- Hello,
-
- I wonder if anyone could tell me what to do with this problem. I was
- using Rend24 the other day to convert some images, when it crashed
- while the hard drive was writing. No problem I thought I will just wait
- for it to validate. So I waited, and waited - workbench came up, hard
- drive light went crazy, then about 5 minutes into it, the system gurued,
- promptly reset itself and went back trying to validate itself.
-
- I attempted to validate it about 5 times, but everytime it crashed. The
- guru was a 80..04 type and the task that was crashing was HD2 (I checked).
-
- I have never had to to revalidate this partition before (it is 250 megs
- and about 95% full) since I use a smaller one (my HD is 352meg and made by
- IBM) to avoid this sort of thing.
-
- After tearing my hair out for about an hour. I tried running an old
- version of DiskSalv I had on Repair mode mode on the partition while it
- was validating. When I turned Disksalv off halfway, it stopped the HD
- validating and I thought my problems were over. Well, the whole
- partition is riddled with checksum errors, in fact if I try and write
- anything it gives a checksum error. If I try and run Disksalv to repair
- it, it works fine, then lets the system revalidate the drive, and bang crash.
-
- I have a A4000/030 with KS3.0 - I was told that it was a bug in KS3 that
- stopped a partition validating if it was over 90% full?? Do I need a new
- kickstart ROM, I have no drive to copy the 250meg onto so I can't reformat,
- any ideas from anyone please!
-
- Help! :)
